While much can be said for a ?wait and see? attitude, generating impulses that stimulate the development and wider deployment of mobile services is perhaps even more mission-critical. This is the goal of the ?MobilMedia? initiative established by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technologie of Germany (BMWi). MobilMedia will act as a forum bringing together large companies and SMEs from the mobile community with prospective new customers for their product lines. MobilMedia will bundle and distribute existing knowledge and know-how related to mobile business and organize discussion forums to highlight potential pitfalls. Working with its partners MobilMedia will seek to expand the market for the mobile business, opening business perspectives beyond the scope of what a single company on its own could do and accelerating the spread of mobile services in Germany. According to a eco study 59% of specialists believe that, as the largest telecommunications market in Europe, Germany stands every chance of becoming world champion in the field of mobile application. MobilMedia could prove the right launch pad for this ambition.
